Job Opportunity: Cath Lab RN

Location: Weirton, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week, 5:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
On Call:

• 2 weeknights per week
• Every 4th weekend on call (end of shift)
• Possible holiday call rotation
• 30-minute call response time with a 4-person team (2 RNs, 2 Cardiovascular Techs)

Facility & Unit Details

• Medium-sized hospital in northern WV
• Cath Lab/IR unit with 2 Cath Labs, 1 Hybrid Room, and 7 Holding Rooms
• Average 16 cases per day (4-12 cases per room)
• Busiest days: Mondays and Thursdays
• 6 Cath Lab Techs on staff
• Charge nurse present each shift to assist with flow and assignments
• No floating requirements
• Scrub color provided (royal blue)

Job Responsibilities

• Pre-admission and post-care in Holding area
• Procedural nursing in Cath Lab
• PICC line insertion
• IV conscious sedation and airway management
• Reading and interpreting tele rhythms and responding appropriately

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience (highest required years of experience)
• Prior exposure to Interventional Radiology (IR) and peripheral vascular cases
• Experience with equipment and procedures including:

  • Impellas
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Shockwave
  • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
  • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)
  • Instantaneous Wave-Free Ratio (IFR)
  • Swan-Ganz catheters
  • Rotational atherectomy (roto)
• Comfortable with conscious sedation
• Ability to read and interpret tele rhythms
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred (optional)

Additional Information

• EMR system: GE MacLab (switching to Phillips Xper in 2025)
• Must comply with a 50-mile radius rule for submissions
• Candidate must have an unexpired driver’s license
• Licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission

Summary

This is a travel Cath Lab RN position requiring a skilled nurse with at least 2 years of Cath Lab experience, including exposure to IR and peripheral vascular cases. The role involves working 12-hour day shifts with on-call responsibilities during nights, weekends, and holidays. The candidate must be proficient with a variety of advanced cardiac and vascular equipment and comfortable managing conscious sedation and tele rhythms. BLS certification is required, and ACLS is preferred.
