Job Opportunity: Dialysis Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
- Schedule: Includes on-call rotation and every other weekend
- Specialty: Dialysis (In-Hospital Hemodialysis - IHD)
- Patient Care:
- Provide hemodialysis services in dialysis unit and bedside ICU patients
- Connect and disconnect patients from peritoneal dialysis treatment
- No CRRT therapy (managed by ICU nurses)
- Use primarily Fresenius dialysis machines with full orientation provided
- No use of PIRRT or Tablo machines
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent permanent Dialysis experience prior to travel assignment
- Must have 18 months permanent Dialysis experience before travel contract
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have Permanent Ohio nursing license or a Compact State license in hand
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit and role (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not specified as mandatory for this role
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
- HHS/OIG (monthly)
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Education verification required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
References & Employment History
- Two recent references required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director within one year of start
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) during orientation for bedside RNs (except OR)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Facility requires acknowledgment of pass/fail testing and orientation safety manual annually
- Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months between contracts may need to repeat some onboarding modules and certifications
This position is ideal for experienced Dialysis RNs with strong acute care skills and the ability to work flexible day shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
