Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Beds: 20
• Staff: 40 (RNs and PCTs)
• Shift Coverage:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 3 PCTs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 2 PCTs
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Equipment Used:

  • Telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps
  • Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow
  • Chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires/pacemakers
  • IV pumps, SCD pumps
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (PCU/Cardiac experience)
• Skills:

  • ACLS certification required
  • Experience with drips including heparin, tikosin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine
  • PCU and cardiac experience mandatory

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with procedures such as:

  • Chest tube placement and removal
  • Removal of pacer wires
  • 12-lead EKGs
