Job Description
- Position: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required (higher experience not indicated)
- Neuro experience required
- Scrub experience required
- Must be within a 45-minute radius for call back
- Call schedule:
- Weekday backup call from 5pm to 7am (Monday-Friday)
- Weekend call (primary or backup) from 7am Saturday to 7am Sunday and holidays if needed
- BLS and ARRT certifications required
- Maryland medical license pending acceptable to start, but license must be posted prior to start
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify per unit description
- Unit-specific competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) may be required depending on unit
Licensure & Verification
- Maryland State License required (must be posted prior to start)
- Primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification for RNs (if applicable)
- Radiation Badge required for Radiology Technologists (provided by facility)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (pending results acceptable prior to start)
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification and transcript/diploma preferred (may start with pending results)
- I9 and government-issued photo ID required
- Facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed (e.g., hand hygiene, floating policy, time and attendance)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete unit-specific skills checklist
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start required for travel assignments
- Work history verification for 2 employers within last 7 years (references from direct supervisors acceptable)
- Must acknowledge pass/fail testing requirements if applicable
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for an Interventional Radiology Tech with at least 1 year of experience, including neuro and scrub experience. The position requires Maryland licensure (pending acceptable to start), BLS and ARRT certifications, and compliance with extensive health, background, and competency requirements. Prior travel experience is not required. The contract length is approximately 14 weeks. Call responsibilities include weekday backup and weekend coverage within a 45-minute radius.
