Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Albany, Georgia
Specialty: Emergency Center


Contract Details

  • Length: 17 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd to 4th weekend
  • Holidays: Every other holiday

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 5 years in Emergency Room nursing (higher value from description)
  • Setting: Acute Care setting, preferably larger hospital or Level 1 Trauma Facility experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Highly preferred but not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred

Skills & Knowledge

  • Must have prior experience with Meditech EMR system (version 6.15)
  • Ability to pass an online Cardiac Rhythms test (minimum 80%)
  • Will take ESI Triage Exam during orientation (remediation available if needed)
  • Experience with Alaris pumps preferred
  • Familiarity with ESI triage system or similar preferred

Unit & Patient Information

  • Unit: Emergency Room with fast track area for less acute patients
  • Beds: 25 monitored beds, 6 fast treatment beds, 6 fast treatment chairs, 2 trauma bays, dedicated stroke room, 4-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psych
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 140 visits per day
  • Patient Types: Pediatrics to geriatrics, trauma, neuro trauma (some transferred out), ortho (some transferred out), no burn patients, CVA (stroke) center

Staffing & Support

  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4
  • Charge nurse present
  • 2-3 nurse aides/paramedics per shift
  • Security and patient sitters available
  • Central monitoring techs for telemetry/monitors
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7 dedicated to ER
  • Pharmacy coverage 11 hours in department, 24/7 on campus
  • Nurses perform lab draws and start IVs

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Driver’s license address must be within 75 miles of the facility
  • COVID-19 immunization not required; unvaccinated must agree to weekly testing
  • Floor-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts depending on comfort level
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with strong acute care backgrounds, Meditech EMR proficiency, and certifications in advanced life support and stroke care. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
