Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Position
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information
- Unit: 5 West Medicine (5W MEDICINE 610)
- Beds: 36
- Staff: 50+
- Shift Staffing:
- Day: 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC, 1-2 sitters
- Night: 1 charge nurse, 7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 0.5 HUC, 1-2 sitters
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day RN: 1:5 or 1:6
- Night RN: 1:6 or 1:7
Equipment & Technology
- Medical remote telemetry monitoring
- Cerner Patient Observation (CPO)
- VC150 devices in every patient room
- Workstation on wheels for every staff member
- Tap and Go computer/documentation access
- EMR system: Cerner
Required Skills & Certifications
- Must have:
- BLS certification
- Medical telemetry experience
- Preferred:
- Leadership experience
- Charge nurse experience
- BSN degree
- CMSRN certification encouraged
Typical Procedures
- Unit does not perform procedures directly but prepares patients for:
- Endoscopy
- Interventional Radiology (IR)
- Operating Room (OR)
Work Environment & Culture
- Fast-paced, team-oriented, compassionate
- Hard-working individuals preferred
- Floating areas include Med-Surg units: 3W, 5W, K8 (sister units)
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs (top and bottom), white top with navy blue bottom, or all white
Scheduling & Shifts
- Must sign up for 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks (Friday, Saturday, Sunday count as weekend shifts on night shift)
