Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Overview

  • Department: Emergency Department (ER)
  • Unit Size: 101 beds
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical patients; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
  • Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and internal processing; unit clerks on days and nights
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
  • Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center with a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits)
  • At least 1 year experience specifically in an Emergency Room setting
  • Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
  • Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
  • Known for strong teamwork and welcoming personalities
  • Serves a diverse, multi-cultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the area
  • Attendance policy and unit-specific guidelines provided on day 1

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
