Description

Travel RN - CVICU (ECMO)

Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Call Requirements: No call required

Unit Overview

Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Beds: 8
Staff: 25 total (Night shift includes charge nurse + 4 RNs)
Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1
Equipment:
- GE bedside monitors
- Alaris IV pumps
- Pyxis medication system
- Centrimag ECMO circuits
- Impella CP & 5.5 devices
- Prismax CRRT machines
- Tablo SLED machines
- Maquet Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps
EMR System: Meditech
Permanent Positions on Unit: Yes

Required Qualifications

License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in CVICU or critical care specialty (highest required)
Skills:
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and rhythms
- Experience with titratable drips
- Understanding of hemodynamics
- Experience with respiratory patients (ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomies, Airvo)
- Experience with open heart surgery recovery
- Experience with ECMO, Impella devices, and intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Experience with CRRT/SLED therapies

Preferred Qualifications

CVICU charge nurse experience

Work Environment & Culture

Team-oriented with a positive, adaptable attitude preferred
Dress code: Navy scrubs required
Weekend shifts: 6 weekend shifts per schedule for night shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Central line and chest tube insertion
Bronchoscopies
Tracheostomies
Intubation

Additional Notes

ECMO experience is required for this role
No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
