Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm-7am)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required.
• Must have 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel.
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS. Must be willing to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start.
• One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required to qualify for submission. Charge RN references accepted.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test will be completed during orientation; passing scores are required.

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Ohio RN license or compact state RN license.
• Experience: Minimum 18 months in Med/Surg Telemetry (permanent experience prior to travel).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - must be obtained prior to start
• References: One recent professional reference in the specialty required.

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required.

Orientation and Testing

• ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate medication competency tests during orientation (passing required).
• Completion of unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Background and Health Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Additional Requirements

• Completion of Cleveland Clinic Ohio Nursing online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (EKG/medication).
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area.
• Skills checklist required annually.

Work Environment

• Night shift with options for 4x12, 3x12, or 2x12 hour shifts.
• Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system.
