Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: PCU RN (Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Responsibilities include:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- O2 protocol management
- Non-invasive airway management
- Management of drips
- Peripheral and central line care/management
- Blood product administration
- Isolation precautions and PPE use
- Computerized documentation
- Rapid response team activation
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in specialty
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year prior to assignment)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)
Licensure and Verification
- State RN license with primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
Background Checks and Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry check required
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- References: 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
- Fit mask test (annual) with approved mask types; fit test waiver process available for medical/religious reasons
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Immunizations required:
- Measles (Rubeola) - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer
- Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer
- Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer
- Hepatitis B - Surface antibody titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Competencies and Other Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blind testing required prior to start
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
- Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
