Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PreOp/PACU)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Third Floor PACU RN (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (various shift times between 6:00 AM and 9:30 PM)
- No on-call or weekend shifts required
- Floating: May float to main OR if census permits/needed
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers
Required Qualifications
- License: Must have a District of Columbia RN license prior to start date (pending DC license accepted at submission with proof)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of general PACU nursing experience, including:
- Administration of blood products
- Infection control
- Specimen handling and labeling
- General PACU procedures
- Competency Exam: Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Health Requirements:
- Flu vaccination (or approved exemption)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within the last year (with annual updates if applicable)
- Required immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Federal and state-level screenings as required
- References: Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Work History: Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps; minimum 2 years employment in the past 7 years required
Additional Information
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date
- May require valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required
- Facility requires strict adherence to vaccination and health documentation policies
- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
