Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)

Job Requirements

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Only
    • NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year of start)
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)
  • Licensure:
    • State License primary source verification required
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in specialty
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Oxygen protocol management
    • Non-invasive airway management
    • Management of drips
    • Peripheral and central line care/management
    • Blood product administration
    • Isolation precautions and PPE use
    • Computerized documentation
    • Ability to manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4
    • Rapid response team activation
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification matching specialty (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • State-specific abuse registry check (KY State Abuse Registry for Home Health specialties)
  • Employment application and professional references (2 references required for clinical candidates)
  • Skills checklist and performance evaluations as applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
  • Fit mask test (annual) with accepted mask types; fit test waiver process available for medical/religious reasons
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
    • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start (annual updates required)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (declinations not accepted)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or IgG titer (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug testing:
    • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (facility requires 5-panel, agency requires 9-panel)
  • Seasonal vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted
    • COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption required; facility-specific exemption forms must be completed

Additional Notes

  • Driver’s license required if driving is a major job function
  • Badge photo required (shoulders up, solid light background)
  • Various facility-specific policies and exemption forms for flu and COVID-19 vaccines apply
  • Competency exams and color blindness testing required prior to start as applicable
