Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • On-call required, averaging 8-10 call shifts per month including 1 full weekend of coverage
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers
  • Must have experience in the Cath Lab (IR-only experience not accepted)
  • Experience required in both Cath Lab and IR Lab procedures
  • EPIC system experience required
  • Scrubs provided

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in Cath Lab nursing
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI acceptable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI acceptable

Required Skills and Procedures

  • Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab procedures
  • Special Procedures including:
    • Cardiac Stent Placement
    • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
    • IABP Placement/Removal
    • Impella insertion
    • Left and Right Heart Catheterization
    • Pacemaker/Defibrillator lead extraction/removal
    • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
    • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
    • Angioplasty
    • Gastrostomy Tube Placement
    • Liver Biopsy
    • Paracentesis
    • Percutaneous Hepatic Angiography
    • Embolization
    • Nephrostomy
    • Renal Angiography and Renal Artery Stent Placement
    • Uterine Arterial Embolization
    • Chest Tube Placement
    • Lung Biopsy
    • Pulmonary Angiography and Pulmonary Embolization
    • Central Venous Access (Non-tunneled/PICC and Port Placement)
    • Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision and Interventional Procedures
    • Endovascular Interventions and Stent Graft Placement
    • SVC/IVC Venography
    • Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
  • Medication administration including Antiarrhythmics, Antihypertensives, Emergency Medications
  • Procedural Sedation Administration and Monitoring
  • Implanted Ports care and maintenance
  • IV infusion pumps and 12 Lead EKG
  • Infection Prevention and Isolation Precautions
  • Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias
  • Monitoring Procedural Sedation

Patient Population

  • Cardiac catheterization patients requiring diagnostic or interventional procedures
  • Interventional Radiology (IR) lab patients requiring drains, tubes, kyphoplasty, biopsy, etc.

Licensing

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required for New York state
  • Pending license not accepted

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification and foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
  • Physical exam, immunizations, and health screenings required within 5 days of contract signing, including:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • Hepatitis B status
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Drug screening within 30 days of start
    • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
    • Fit mask test within 1 year
    • Eye exam within 1 year
  • Facility-specific documents and attestations required
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
  • References and employment verification required for travel agency candidates

Notes

  • No locals accepted within 75 miles radius
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: keep close to 1 week
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs looking for a travel contract with a focus on interventional cardiac and IR procedures in a hospital setting.
