Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Smyrna, Tennessee

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Women’s Services
• Beds: 9 Labor & Delivery, 3 swing rooms, 2 ORs, 3-bed OBED
• Patient Ratios: 1-2
• Staffing: Unit secretary and scrub tech available; dedicated CRNA and midwife in-house 24/7; OBGYN on call
• Documentation Systems: CPN and Meditech
• Scheduling: Requires 4 weekend shifts per month
• Floating Policy: May float to mother/baby or outside department for tasks
• Patient Experience Goal: Maintain above 75% satisfaction

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Skills and Experience

• Commitment to providing the highest quality care to laboring patients
• Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities based on patient preference
• Advanced skills such as Spinning Babies and STABLE program are helpful
• Experience with procedures including circulating in OR, IUPC, FSE, magnesium sulfate administration, postpartum hemorrhage management (JADA system), and nitrous oxide use

• Couplet care in postpartum unit to keep newborns bedside with mothers, promoting breastfeeding and donor milk availability
• 8-bed Level 2 NICU with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coverage 24/7, including attendance at high-risk deliveries

Dress Code

• Uniform: Hot pink and black; black bottoms acceptable, hot pink tops preferred
