Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department, Trauma Nurse Lead

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

This is a Trauma Nurse Lead position working in the emergency room environment during the initial primary and secondary survey period. The role involves working nights and weekends in a high-stress trauma setting with 2 trauma bays in the emergency department.


Unit & Work Environment

  • Trauma-focused emergency department with 2 trauma bays
  • Equipment includes Level 1 rapid infuser, HOT LINE, EKG, GE CareScape (ultrasound), Hamilton ventilator, CAT tourniquet, Alaris IV pump
  • Documentation system: Meditech EMR
  • Scheduling: Nights and weekends required
  • Floating: Not applicable
  • On-call: Not applicable
  • Dress code: Red top and black bottom scrubs

Required Certifications

  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) – Current
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of trauma experience, with trauma experience within the last year
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing
  • Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR assistance when needed
  • Strong IV skills and background
  • Experience running mass transfusions through Level 1 rapid infuser

Procedures Performed on Unit

  • IV placement
  • Spinal stabilization
  • Splinting
  • Assisting with chest tube procedures
  • Traction
  • Central and arterial line placement
  • Emergency bedside procedures
