Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts as needed.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year FCRA compliant search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be current and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
• Education verification required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability assessment for essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
• Must submit 2 professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Must complete annual skills checklist.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but recent Stepdown travel experience counts toward the 18-month Stepdown experience requirement.
• Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts to meet operational needs.
• Orientation includes competency testing with remediation and retake opportunities if needed.
• Compliance with all health and safety documentation is mandatory for assignment start and continuation.
