Respiratory Therapist (Temp, Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work approximately 36-40 hours per week; overtime after 40 hours.
• May be required to float across multiple campuses and assist on general Pediatric floors.
• Patient population includes all ages, with possible work in PICU, NICU, or Pediatric Intensive Care units.
• Equipment experience preferred: HFOV (High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation), Jet, Servo U ventilators.
• Electronic Medical Records system used: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of Respiratory Care experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
• Current and active Respiratory Therapist certification (CRT or RRT).
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or ARC required.
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification required.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records required.
• Valid Iowa Respiratory Therapist license highly preferred; candidates without may be accepted with 1-3 week licensing turnaround.
• Skills checklist specific to Respiratory Therapy discipline required.
• Driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in PICU or NICU settings highly preferred.
• Certification or documentation from Iowa Department of Public Health for Respiratory Care and Polysomnography highly preferred.
• Recent professional references (within 24 months) preferred.

Additional Information

• Orientation dates available in April.
• May be required to float and cross-train on pediatric floors.
• Charge/precepting opportunities available.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Must have all certifications active and in hand before starting.
