Description

Position: Dietitian
Location: Syracuse, NY
Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Weekend coverage required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of inpatient and/or critical care experience

  • CNSC certification preferred

Job Summary:
The Inpatient Dietitian provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition assessments for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, with documentation completed in the medical record.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess nutritional status using screening tools, including the Malnutrition Screening Tool

  • Diagnose malnutrition and develop nutrition interventions

  • Monitor patient outcomes to improve nutrition status, reduce medical costs, and decrease length of stay

  • Implement and modify diet and nutrition-related orders using physician- or facility-driven protocols, including:

    • Diet and texture modifications

    • Oral nutrition supplements and dietary supplements

    • Nutrition-related labs, medications, and education/counseling

  • Manage nutrition support therapies, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, such as:

    • Formula selection and rate adjustments

    • Addition of medications, vitamins, and minerals

    • Supplemental water for enteral nutrition

  • Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives

  • Attend departmental meetings, staff development activities, patient care rounds, and professional programs
