Registered Nurse – NICU
Facility: Mount Sinai West
Address: 1000 10th Ave, New York, NY 10019

Start Date: January 5, 2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights: 3×12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Position Overview:
The NICU Registered Nurse provides specialized, high-quality nursing care for premature and critically ill newborns requiring intensive monitoring and advanced clinical support. The RN uses evidence-based practice, strong clinical judgment, and family-centered care principles while collaborating closely with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include continuous assessment, intervention, and evaluation to ensure safe and optimal outcomes for medically fragile infants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to premature and critically ill neonates requiring ventilator support, advanced monitoring, and specialized interventions.

  • Perform continuous assessments, promptly identify changes in condition, and initiate appropriate clinical actions.

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, TPN, blood products, and manage NICU-specific equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, incubators, and infusion pumps.

  • Collaborate with neonatologists, NNPs, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to develop individualized care plans.

  • Provide education, updates, and emotional support to families regarding treatment plans and discharge preparation.

  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation and adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols.

  • Participate in neonatal resuscitation and assist with high-risk deliveries when needed.

  • Ensure infection control, patient safety, and a supportive healing environment for newborns and families.

Requirements:

  • Active NY RN license – Required

  • Minimum 1–2 years of Level II/III/IV NICU experience – Required

  • BLS & NRP – Required

  • BSN

  • Strong neonatal assessment and critical care skills

Unit Details:

  • Level III/IV NICU

  • High-acuity neonatal population, including extreme prematurity, respiratory distress, post-surgical infants, and congenital anomalies

  • Collaborative and supportive interdisciplinary care environment
