RN – PICU (Contract) – Mount Sinai Health System
Location: 1184 5th Ave – Kravis, New York, NY 10029
Start Date: 01/05/2026
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years PICU experience in a hospital setting
Education: BSN required
Licensure/Certifications:

Active NY RN License
BLS
PALS

Job Summary
The Pediatric ICU Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients. Care is based on nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards.

Key Duties
Patient Care

Provide patient-centered care using the Relationship Centered Care model.
Assess and evaluate patient conditions, applying critical thinking and clinical skills.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Prioritize nursing interventions including teaching, rounding, and discharge planning.
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment, transitions of care, and prevention strategies.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams.
Manage assignments within the Modified Primary Nursing model.

Patient Experience

Demonstrate the Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care principles (Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, etc.).
Maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Use evidence-based practices to enhance patient experience.
Address concerns promptly and initiate service recovery when appropriate.
Perform Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.

Required Skills

Minimum 2 years pediatric ICU or critical care experience
Strong clinical proficiency in pediatric intensive care
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
Ability to assess and manage acutely ill pediatric patients
Manual dexterity for clinical procedures (venipuncture, catheterization, CPR)
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and respond quickly in high-acuity situations
Proficiency in EMR documentation and basic data systems
