Description

Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Detroit, MI
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hours (06:30 – 19:00); every other weekend and holidays required

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care services including life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy

  • Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures

  • Deliver care to patients in Adult ICU or Neonatal ICU settings (assigned to one unit)

  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans as appropriate

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and interdisciplinary team members

  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care and complete billing documentation

  • Maintain clinical competency and support departmental assignments as needed

  • Supervise, direct, and assist respiratory therapy staff, students, and externs when assigned

  • Utilize electronic medical records for documentation and workflow

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience

  • Associate of Science degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care

  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Michigan

  • BLS certification

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Experience in acute care ICU settings (adult or neonatal); long-term care–only experience not accepted

  • Ability to work scheduled weekends and holidays

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy

  • Prior ICU experience in a high-acuity hospital environment

  • Familiarity with electronic charting systems (Cerner experience preferred)
