Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Laboratory Services
Location: Laurel, MD
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings/Nights, 5x8-Hour (15:30–00:00 / 23:30–08:00), Monday–Friday

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive laboratory testing as a generalist across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology/serology, and blood bank

• Execute all blood bank procedures including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening and identification, crossmatching, antigen typing, Rhogam screening, transfusion reaction workups, and blood product handling

• Process, accession, and prepare specimens ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transport

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation including ACL TOP, Beckman analyzers, Roche Cobas, Sysmex XM, and related equipment

• Perform and document quality control, calibration, and result validation in accordance with laboratory standards

• Analyze and report patient test results accurately and timely using the Epic charting system

• Adhere to safety, infection control, and hazardous material handling policies

• Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting department workflow and patient care needs

• Float within the laboratory department as required to support operational needs

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Laboratory Scientist experience

• Blood Bank experience required (hard stop)

• Community hospital laboratory experience required

• Strong generalist skills with ability to function independently

• Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality assurance practices

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• ASCP certification (required)

• ASCP-MLS certification (preferred)

• BLS – American Heart Association (preferred)
