Job Title: Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU RN)

Location: Watertown NY

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift:
12-hour Day Shifts
Weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage required
On-call response time: 60 minutes

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural anesthesia

• Monitor patient airways, vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and pain levels during recovery

• Assess and respond to post-operative complications, including dysrhythmias and airway concerns

• Safely manage patient mobility and transfers, utilizing proper lifting techniques and equipment

• Maintain a safe, aseptic clinical environment in PACU/OR/ASU settings

• Prioritize, delegate, and coordinate patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

• May assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed

• Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, patients, and families

• Accurately document patient care and assessments

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

• Current New York State RN license

• Previous PACU experience required

• Strong knowledge of nursing principles and post-anesthesia care

• Ability to function effectively in high-stress situations with strong problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated leadership, delegation, and prioritization abilities

Current Certifications

• BLS (required)

• ACLS (required)

• PALS (required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience

• Charge nurse, preceptorship, or leadership experience

• Advanced dysrhythmia interpretation skills

• Experience with OR/ASU clinical equipment and instrumentation
