Title: Speech-Language Pathologist – Acute Care Hospital
Location: Fostoria, OH
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5x8 hours (09:00 – 17:30); Fridays 08:00 – 12:00; no weekends

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide acute care and adult outpatient speech therapy services in a hospital setting with a 1:1 staffing ratio. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients across the lifespan, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The SLP will manage dysphagia care, conduct bedside swallow evaluations, perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (VFSS/MBS), and develop appropriate treatment plans. The role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and accurate, timely documentation using the electronic medical record.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience

• CCC-SLP certification required

• MBSImP certification required

• Active Ohio SLP license (pending license accepted)

• Experience in acute care and adult outpatient settings

• Dysphagia management experience, including:

  • Bedside swallow evaluations

  • Conducting and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (VFSS/MBS)

• Epic charting experience required

• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)

• Acute Care Hospital and Adult Outpatient

• Patient age groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

• Average daily census: 8

• Unit size: 20 rooms / 20 beds

• Variable medical diagnoses

• Interdisciplinary support including Interpretation Services, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Respiratory Services, and Social Services
