Job Details

• Patient Population: Adult

• Float: Yes – within OSU hospital system

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• First-Time Travelers: ✅ Accepted

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:4

• Nights: 1:4

• Weekends: 1:4

Clinical Experience Required

Neuro / PCU / Stepdown

• Neuro Stepdown / PCU / IMC / DOU

• Stroke (CVA), Intracranial bleeds

• Post-TNK / Post-TPA care

• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

• Pre/Post Neurosurgery

• Craniotomy patients

• EEG monitoring

Lines & Skills

• Central & peripheral line care

• PICC management

• Arterial lines

• Blood product administration

• Ports (preferred)

• IV therapy & phlebotomy

Respiratory & Cardiac

• Cardiac telemetry

• Dysrhythmia recognition & management

• Titration of cardiac drips

• HFNC, oxygen therapy

Other

• Feeding tube care

• Heparin protocols

• Isolation precautions

• Wound care / wound vacs (preferred)

Requirements

• 2 years RN experience

• PCU Neuro experience – REQUIRED

• BLS – REQUIRED

• NIHSS – REQUIRED

• ACLS – Preferred

• Teaching hospital experience – Preferred

• Valid Compact or Ohio RN license IN HAND at submission

Unit & Facility Info

• 29-bed Stroke Unit

• Average Census: 29

• Med-Surg overflow Neuro patients

• Strong interdisciplinary support:

  • PT, RT, Radiology, Pharmacy

  • Rapid Response Teams

  • Social Work & Unit Secretary

Compliance – VERY IMPORTANT

⚠️ Ohio fingerprinting is URGENT & mandatory

• Must be completed immediately after contract signing

• Strict deadline: Tuesday prior to start

• Candidates must be responsive with credentialing

• Travel delays/push possible if fingerprints are delayed

Other Compliance Notes

• RTO required at submission (1 request allowed)

• 2 professional references required

  • 1 manager/director (Charge RN ok as 2nd)

• Former OSU employees eligible after 6 months

• Current OSU employees are NOT eligible
