Radiologic Technologist
Location: Detroit, MI 48236
Job Duration: 18 Weeks
Schedule: 4 × 10-Hour Day Shifts
Shift: Afternoon / Evening Shift
Hours: 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (1:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
On-Call: No
Block Scheduling: No
Potential Flexibility: Limited flexibility with hours
Interview Type: MS Teams or Phone
Interview Duration: 15 minutes
Interview Panel: Manager, Supervisor, and possible Lead Tech
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Radiologic Technologist experience
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
- Operating Room (OR) experience required
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must maintain required continuing education hours
Certifications / Licensure
- ARRT (RT) – Required
- BLS (AHA) – Required
Position Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. The technologist uses independent judgment to determine appropriate imaging techniques, positioning, and radiation safety practices in accordance with departmental protocols.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assigned to ER or OR areas
- Perform portable radiographic exams
- Work with young and geriatric patient populations
- Explain imaging procedures and prepare patients for examinations
- Review requisitions and patient medical history
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies
- Position patients and operate imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images
- Utilize patient immobilization as needed
- Administer IV contrast when applicable and monitor for reactions
- Follow radiation protection principles (ALARA)
- Prepare sterile equipment and follow infection control standards
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, comfort, and confidentiality
- Complete all required documentation, logs, and patient records
- Assist with training and education of new hires and students
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure image accuracy in PACS
- Complete study indexing in RIS
- Collaborate with Radiologists on clinical protocols
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and customer service excellence

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Hospital-based role (ER, OR, IPD, mobile units)
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients
- Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and/or patients over 10 lbs
