Radiologic Technologist (Radiographer)

Location: Detroit, MI 48236
Job Duration: 18 Weeks
Schedule: 5 × 8-Hour Day Shifts | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Shift: Day Shift
Hours per Week: 40
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Radiologic Technologist experience
• Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
• Operating Room (OR) experience required

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. The technologist exercises independent judgment in selecting appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and radiation safety practices while following departmental protocols.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for imaging
• Review requisitions and patient history prior to exams
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies
• Analyze patient anatomy and position patients appropriately
• Operate imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images
• Utilize patient immobilization techniques when necessary
• Administer IV contrast when applicable and monitor for reactions
• Follow radiation protection principles (ALARA)
• Prepare sterile equipment and follow infection control protocols
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, comfort, and confidentiality
• Complete all required documentation, logs, and patient records
• Educate and assist new hires and students as needed
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure image accuracy in PACS
• Complete study indexing in RIS
• Collaborate with Radiologists on clinical protocols
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and customer service excellence

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must maintain required continuing education hours

Certifications / Licensure

• ARRT (RT) – Required
• BLS (Healthcare Provider) – Required

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

• Hospital-based role (ER, OR, IPD, mobile units)
• Potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment
• Potential exposure to contagious patients
• Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and/or patients (>10 lbs)
