Description

Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Technologist (CST) – Surgical Services
Location: Amarillo, TX
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift, 4x10-Hour (07:00 – 17:30)

Job Responsibilities:

Assist the RN and surgeon in preparation for surgical procedures and room setup
Perform scrub technologist duties, including handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery
Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure integrity of the sterile field throughout procedures
Anticipate surgeon needs by understanding surgical procedures and case flow
Assist with a wide range of surgical specialties, including General, Orthopedic, Neuro, Urology, GYN, and Endoscopic cases
Prepare the operating room for subsequent cases, including cleaning and restocking
Participate in surgical counts and ensure patient safety standards are met
Respond appropriately during emergent and trauma cases as needed
Float to other surgical areas, including Labor & Delivery, when required
Take rotating on-call shifts, including weekends, based on department needs

Required Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified OR Tech / Surgical Technologist (CST)
Strong experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Endo/Laparoscopic, Neuro, GYN, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Podiatry, and Transplant
Ability to scrub a variety of surgical cases with confidence and efficiency
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, case carts, and OR equipment
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Willingness to float and take call as required

Preferred Skills:

Experience in Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatric, and ENT surgical procedures

Required Certifications & Licensure:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA (required, active and in hand)
BLS – Basic Life Support (required, active)
