Description

Job Title: Dietitian
Location: New York, NY 10029
Job Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Shift: Day Shift – 5 × 7.5-hour shifts
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours per Week: 37.5

​​​​​​​Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, including completion of a dietetic internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), or RD-eligible with successful completion of the RD exam within three months of hire.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with inborn errors of metabolism and/or pediatric nutrition.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Accurate nutrient calculations and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Nutrition, the Dietitian provides high-quality nutrition care and education to patients and their families. This role involves assessing nutritional status, developing and implementing appropriate nutrition therapy, and supporting patient-focused care within assigned units while adhering to hospital and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' nutritional status by reviewing electronic medical records and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Apply nutrition screening and assessment principles to determine patient-specific nutritional needs.
  • Document all pertinent findings in the medical record in accordance with policy.
  • Provide nutrition counseling to patients and family members as appropriate.
  • Develop, evaluate, and modify nutrition care plans based on patient response and clinical judgment.
  • Assess and recommend enteral and parenteral nutrition support as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Assist with discharge planning when required.
  • Precept dietetic interns, provide instruction, and contribute to student evaluations.
  • Participate in community-focused nutrition education programs.
