Description
Title: Laboratory – Clinical Lab Scientist
Location: Napa, CA
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Mid Shift, 5x8-Hour (14:30–22:00), weekends every other, float required
Job Responsibilities:
-
Perform clinical laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology/serology, urinalysis, and blood banking
-
Prepare specimens, perform accessioning, and ensure proper labeling, transport, and storage
-
Operate automated and manual instruments including Beckman, CellaVision, Hitachi, and Iris Cell analyzers
-
Conduct quality control, review, and interpretation of test results according to lab protocols
-
Perform specialized procedures including therapeutic drug monitoring, tumor marker testing, ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, and PCR testing
-
Assist in rapid test kits, wet prep, and organism identification procedures
-
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including phlebotomy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and IV teams
-
Maintain aseptic technique, transmission-based precautions, and proper disposal of hazardous materials
-
Document all test results and laboratory procedures accurately in Epic EMR
-
Float to sister facilities within the hospital system as needed
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist

Experience in acute care hospital settings preferred

Ability to work mid-shift, weekends every other, and float as needed

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and teamwork in a high-volume lab environment

Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, quality assurance, and instrument operation
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-
ASCP-MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) – required, active and in hand

State Clinical Lab Scientist License (CA) – required, active and in hand
