Description
Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Location: Detroit, MI 48202
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Schedule: 40 Hours per Week
Position Summary
The Interventional Radiology Technologist works under the supervision of a Radiologist and is responsible for performing invasive diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures. This role supports the evaluation and treatment of pathological conditions while ensuring patient safety, image quality, and compliance with established clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.

Collect and review patient medical history as required.

Prepare and administer prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions.

Review clinical data and imaging requisitions; analyze patient anatomy and prepare equipment according to protocol.

Assist the Radiologist during complex interventional and invasive diagnostic procedures.

Prepare and maintain sterile fields, imaging equipment, physiological monitors, and pressure injectors.

Ensure adequate availability, proper storage, and replenishment of procedural supplies such as needles and catheters.

Monitor and assess patient condition before, during, and after procedures.

Operate imaging equipment to obtain accurate diagnostic images.

Adhere to radiation safety standards and ALARA principles, including patient shielding and dose optimization.

Manage PACS workflows by resolving image issues and ensuring high-quality image delivery.

Complete study documentation and indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).

Review and confirm imaging protocols with the Radiologist prior to performing studies.

Perform quality assurance procedures and maintain accurate documentation for clinical and billing purposes.

Demonstrate professional standards of excellence, including effective communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care (AIDET).

Assist with training and mentoring of new staff or students as assigned.

Exercise independent judgment in imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.

Perform additional duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Ongoing completion of required continuing medical education (CME) hours
Certification & Licensure
-
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider certification required
-
Active ARRT registration with advanced certification in one of the following:

Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)

Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)

Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)
