Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med Surg Telemetry unit in Albany, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing and the ability to manage complex, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced academic hospital environment.

Mandatory Requirements

• Epic EMR experience – Required

• Navy blue scrubs required

• Local candidates are not accepted (effective 01/11/2024; refer to ineligible counties list)

• Minimum 1 year of experience at a 600 bed academic hospital with a passing competency test score

• 2 years of experience – competency testing not required

Competency Testing Requirement

• Competency test must be completed within 24 hours of submission

• Test will be sent via HSH to the candidate's email

• Ensure an up-to-date email address is provided at the time of submission

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients.

• Perform ongoing patient assessments, including cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation.

• Manage patients with complex medical conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, and post-operative cases.

• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.

• Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.

• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

• Document patient care accurately in Epic EMR.

• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.

• Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Med Surg and Telemetry nursing experience

• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

• Ability to manage multiple patients in a high-acuity environment

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Time management and prioritization abilities

Certifications & Qualifications

• Active RN license (NY or compact)

• BLS (AHA) – Required

• ACLS – Preferred

• Minimum 1–2 years of recent acute care experience
