Shift: Nights | 3×12s (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Weekends: Every other weekend required

Floating: Yes – Travelers float first and will be part of the Resource Float Team

Unit Overview

Unit: R4 Progressive Care (PCU)
-
Trauma Level: II
-
Patient Ratio: 3:1
-
Patient Population: Adult acute inpatient PCU/Telemetry
-
Common Diagnoses:
-
Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure
-
Post PTCA/stent & cardiac cath
-
Insulin drip therapy
-
Cardiac & minimally titrating vasoactive drips
-
Thrombolytic therapy
-
ETOH withdrawal with airway risk
-
Carotid surgery, vascular bypass
-
Hemodynamic instability, hypotension
-
CPAP/BIPAP patients
-
-
Support Staff: CNAs/PCTs available, Telemetry monitoring
-
Respiratory & Anesthesia: Available 24/7
-
Vent Management: Home vents only on unit
Requirements
-
License: NY RN license or proof of application at submission
(NY licensing takes ~6–8 weeks; considered for start dates) -
Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year PCU/Tele experience
-
Epic experience within the past 2 years – NON-NEGOTIABLE
-

Certifications (Required):

BLS (AHA)
-
ACLS (AHA)
-
NIHSS (must be completed prior to start)

Travel Experience: Preferred, not required

Cardiac & telemetry monitoring

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Insulin drips & IV insulin protocols

Cardiac drips (titration & non-titration)

Post cardiac cath & sheath removal

Blood product administration
-
Central & peripheral line care
-
IV starts & phlebotomy
-
CPAP/BIPAP & oxygen therapy
-
Stroke care (CVA), substance withdrawal
-
Wound care & wound vacs
-
Isolation precautions
Scheduling & Policies

No block schedules (no exceptions)

Must work 2 of 3 major holidays:

Thanksgiving

Christmas / Christmas Eve

New Year's Day / New Year's Eve

Orientation: 1–2 days
