Description
Title: Certified Orthopedic Technician (CST)
Location: Westlake Village, CA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift – 5x8-Hour (08:30–17:30)
Job Responsibilities
-
Function as a Certified Orthopedic Technician providing direct clinical support in an outpatient orthopedic setting
-
Assist orthopedic surgeons and providers with patient care, clinical flow, and orthopedic procedures
-
Perform orthopedic procedures including casting, splinting, bracing, immobilizer application, and traction application
-
Apply and remove fiberglass and synthetic casts; perform closed/open reduction support as directed
-
Assist with advanced orthopedic procedures such as arthroscopy, spinal procedures (laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion), total knee replacement, and total hip replacement
-
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures while ensuring comfort and safety
-
Educate patients on cast care, splint care, brace use, and post-procedure instructions
-
Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to isolation precautions and universal protocols (time-out procedures)
-
Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, sterilization, and disinfection of equipment
-
Maintain exam and procedure rooms, ensuring cleanliness, readiness, and appropriate supplies

Assist with wound care and dressing changes as needed

Document patient care accurately using EPIC charting system

Adhere to radiation, laser, sharps, fire, and emergency safety protocols

Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
-
Float between outpatient clinic locations as required (rare but possible)
Required Skills & Experience
-
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Certified Orthopedic Technician – Required

Outpatient orthopedic clinic experience – Required
-
Strong clinical knowledge of orthopedic procedures and equipment
-
Proficiency in casting, splinting, immobilization, and fracture management
-
Demonstrated understanding of aseptic technique and infection control standards
-
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced outpatient environment

Strong communication, organization, and patient education skills
-
Comfortable floating between clinic locations when necessary
Required Certifications & Licensure
-
Certified Orthopedic Technician (NBCOT Certification) – Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
