Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Location: Detroit, MI 48236
Assignment Duration: 18 Weeks
Department: Diagnostic Radiology
Shift: Afternoon/Evening Shift | 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the evaluation and diagnosis of patient conditions. This role requires independent judgment in selecting appropriate imaging techniques, ensuring radiation safety, and providing high-quality patient care in accordance with departmental protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Explain imaging procedures and prepare patients for examinations

Review physician orders and patient clinical history to determine appropriate imaging studies

Position patients, operate radiographic equipment, and adjust technical factors to obtain optimal diagnostic images

Maintain patient safety and comfort, including use of immobilization when necessary

Administer IV contrast media as required and monitor patients for adverse reactions

Apply radiation safety principles, including ALARA practices and appropriate shielding

Prepare procedure rooms and ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available

Follow infection control standards and sterile techniques as required

Ensure accurate documentation in PACS, RIS, and the electronic medical record

Resolve image quality issues and confirm correct image transmission to PACS

Collaborate with radiologists to confirm imaging protocols prior to examinations

Support training and education of students and new staff as needed

Demonstrate professional communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care standards
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
-
Work in hospital settings including diagnostic imaging departments, inpatient units, OR, and ER
-
Operate fixed and mobile imaging equipment

Possible exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious patients

Ability to lift or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs as needed
Education & Experience Requirements
-
High School Diploma or GED required
-
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program preferred
-
Ongoing continuing education required to maintain licensure
Certifications & Licensure
-
ARRT Certification in Radiography (or registry-eligible; must obtain within 6 months of hire)

BLS / Healthcare Provider certification required
