Description
Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Charleston, WV
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12-Hour (19:00–07:00)
Job Responsibilities
-
Provide comprehensive respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
-
Deliver respiratory support in critical care, emergency, NICU, pediatric, and general care settings
-
Assist with airway management including intubation, extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
-
Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation, including BiPAP, CPAP, IMV/SIMV, HFNC, and high-frequency ventilation
-
Assist in high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal respiratory support
-
Administer respiratory medications via nebulizer, MDI, aerosol mask, T-piece, and trach collar
-
Perform arterial and capillary blood gas collection and interpretation
-
Support care for patients with ARDS, RSV, RDS, COVID-19, cystic fibrosis, BPD, and aspiration
-
Assist with bronchoscopy procedures and sputum specimen collection
-
Monitor oxygen therapy delivery via ET tubes, bag-mask ventilation, and trach systems
-
Document patient care accurately using Cerner or facility-approved charting systems
-
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
-
Float within scope of practice as needed to meet unit and patient care needs
Required Skills & Experience
-
Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Mandatory pediatric and NICU experience
-
Experience in adult and pediatric critical care settings preferred
-
Strong competency in ventilator management and airway procedures
-
Familiarity with neonatal and pediatric respiratory equipment and protocols
-
Ability to work independently on night shifts and weekends
-
Prior charge experience preferred

Teaching hospital and trauma experience preferred
Required Certifications & Licensure

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required (American Heart Association)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required
-
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required
-
Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) – Preferred
-
ACLS – Preferred

Active State Respiratory Care License
