Title: CVOR Surgical Technologist
Location: Vero Beach, FL
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:00 – 14:30)

Job Responsibilities

• Assist cardiovascular surgeons during complex open-heart and vascular procedures in the CVOR

• Prepare, scrub, and maintain sterile surgical fields using strict aseptic technique

• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized CVOR equipment and instrumentation

• Participate in procedures including CABG, TAVR, EVAR, VAD, valve replacements, and emergency cardiac cases

• Perform specimen handling, labeling, and transfer per hospital protocol

• Adhere to Universal Protocol, time-out procedures, and patient safety standards

• Ensure compliance with fire safety, laser safety, radiation safety, and sharps safety guidelines

• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection of surgical equipment

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 18 months CVOR experience required (2 years preferred)

• Experience in a cardiovascular operating room setting

• Proficiency in cardiac and vascular procedures including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, and endovascular cases

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation

• Ability to function effectively in high-acuity and emergency situations

• Familiarity with EPIC or similar electronic charting systems

• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment

Required Certifications & Licensure

• NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C) – Preferred

• BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA or Red Cross required)
