Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care / Step-Down Unit assignment. This unit cares for post-surgical and general medicine patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring and a higher level of nursing care.

• Start Date: 03/09/2026

• Duration: 13 weeks

• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Patient Ratio: 1:4–5

• Floating: Required to units of equal or lower acuity

• Orientation: 24 hours

This is a Surgical Step-Down / Progressive Care Unit supporting patients with:

• Bariatric surgery

• Colorectal surgery

• Post-surgical overflow

• General medicine diagnoses

Strong interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, social services, and radiology.

• 2 years of Registered Nurse experience

• PCU / Step-Down / Telemetry experience

• Must pass telemetry exam

• Epic charting experience (required)

• Active Ohio or Compact RN license (in hand at submission)

• BLS and ACLS certifications

• Teaching hospital experience

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation

• IV insulin drips and heparin protocols

• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry (on-unit and remote)

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management

• IV starts and IV therapy

• Central line and PICC care

• Blood product administration

• PCA pumps

• Oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management

• Wound care and wound vacs

• Medication administration and patient education

• Floating may occur if not needed on home unit

• RTO must be disclosed at time of submission

• Strict compliance timelines apply, including urgent Ohio fingerprinting after booking

• Locals accepted

• Former employees eligible after 6 months away

• Current employees are not eligible for travel roles
