Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry 
Location: Washington, DC 20037
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: 3 × 12-hour day shifts

Job Summary : The George Washington University Hospital is seeking experienced Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurses for a high-acuity inpatient unit. The RN will deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care while utilizing telemetry monitoring and clinical judgment to manage patients with complex medical conditions. This role requires strong assessment skills, proficiency with Cerner, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients
Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, including review of systems
Monitor and interpret telemetry data and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Complete admission assessments within established timeframes and according to hospital policies
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Document patient care thoroughly and timely in Cerner EMR
Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Educate patients and families to support recovery and continuity of care
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards

Required Qualifications
Current RN license in Washington, DC (or compact eligibility if applicable)
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
Minimum 2 years of RN experience
Cerner EMR experience (required)
Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program

Active certifications:
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications
BSN (highly desired)
