Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care including life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy. This role supports patients in both intensive care and general care units and requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage a varied patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen delivery, ventilator management, and airway care

• Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures

• Provide care to patients in ICU and general treatment areas

• Accurately document all patient care activities

• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and interdisciplinary teams

• Assist with training and supervision of respiratory staff, students, and externs as assigned

• Ensure accurate patient billing documentation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required

• Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

• Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist license

• Associate of Science degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy

• NICU experience

• Current BLS certification

Patient Population

• ICU assignments may include care for up to 6 patients (varies by shift)

• General treatment assignments may include 1–20 patients depending on acuity and department needs
