MRI Technologist
Location: New York, NY 10029

Job Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: 5 × 7.5-Hour Mid/Evening Shifts (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 37.5 hours
Guaranteed Hours: Dependent on facility requirements

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures. This role applies technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality images according to written protocols and patient needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform MRI imaging procedures.
• Position patients and associated coils to obtain optimal studies.
• Educate patients about imaging procedures, including instructions and the area being imaged.
• Review patient safety questionnaires before allowing access to the MRI scan room.
• Ensure all MRI images are properly labeled per department SOP.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and transmit images to PACS in a timely manner.
• Complete all studies in IDX (Radiology Information System) promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness of MRI rooms and equipment at the start and end of each shift, including removal of soiled linen.
• Scan patient-related documents as required.
• Maintain supplies and accessories necessary to safely perform duties.
• Accurately record patient tracking information in IDX.
• Schedule exams in IDX as required.
• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
• Assist physicians as required.
• Call for in-patients as needed.
• Perform clerical duties in the absence of support staff.
• Adhere strictly to MRI safety guidelines to prevent introduction of ferromagnetic materials.
• Follow infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and staff.
• Attend in-services and professional development sessions as required.
• Maintain active licensure in good standing in compliance with Public Health Code requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MRI physics.
• Excellent technical skills and understanding of anatomy and physiology.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of MRI experience.

Required Education

• Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T.-approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
• ARRT MRI Registry.
• BCLS Certification.
