Job Title: RN – Rehabilitation (Contract)

Client: Mount Sinai Health System – Mount Sinai Morningside (St. Luke's Campus)
Location: 1111 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10025
Start Date: 03/30/2026
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every Other Weekend
Unit Details: 25-bed Rehab Unit | Avg. Census: 21
Float Requirement: May float to Mount Sinai Hospital and/or Mount Sinai West if needed

Job Summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Rehabilitation to provide comprehensive patient-centered care within a specialized rehab unit. The RN will manage complex patient populations including spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), while ensuring clinical excellence, safety, and adherence to evidence-based nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
Provide care for patients with spinal cord injuries, TBIs, and complex rehabilitation needs
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
Educate patients and families on disease management, recovery goals, and transition of care
Maintain therapeutic communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams
Perform purposeful rounding, patient education, and discharge planning
Document accurately in Epic EMR and comply with regulatory standards
Promote patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
Participate in charge nurse duties and support unit operations as assigned

Required Qualifications & Skills

Active New York State RN License
BLS Certification (AHA)
Minimum 2 years RN experience
Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation and mechanical ventilation experience
Experience with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injury patients
Epic EMR experience highly preferred
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
