Description
Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Location: Providence, RI
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night – 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:00)
Job Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult patients in critical care and emergency department settings
• Perform airway management including direct intubation assistance, extubation, and oral/nasal airway placement
• Conduct suctioning (oral, nasal, endotracheal, tracheostomy) and sputum specimen collection
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation including BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Troubleshoot ventilator alarms and assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Set up and administer aerosol therapies via mask, trach collar, T-piece, handheld nebulizer, and MDI
• Administer respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and specialty gases as ordered
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and communicate critical results appropriately
• Provide tracheostomy care and pulmonary hygiene treatments
• Support emergency and critical care procedures, including trauma and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
• Accurately document all treatments and assessments in the electronic medical record (Meditech preferred)
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital protocols
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience required
• Proficiency in airway management and ventilator management
• Experience with Servo I ventilators required
• Strong knowledge of aerosol medication delivery systems
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Unit accepts first-time travelers
Required Certifications & Licensure
• BLS – Required
• CRT – Required
• RRT – Preferred
• ACLS – Preferred
• Active Rhode Island Respiratory Therapist License
