Description
Job Title: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location: Farmington Hills, Michigan, 48334
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
General Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to assist in the evaluation of pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Adheres to departmental protocols while exercising independent judgment in selecting appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and radiation safety practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for imaging studies.

Review clinical information and requisitions to ensure appropriate examinations are performed; obtain additional patient history as needed.

Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring adequate stock of supplies and linens.

Assess patient anatomy, position patients correctly, and operate radiologic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

Select and administer intravenous contrast media when required; monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide immediate care if necessary.

Apply radiation protection principles, including shielding and ALARA techniques, to minimize exposure.

Prepare sterile equipment and supplies as needed, following infection control and safety standards.

Perform patient care activities while ensuring safety, privacy, comfort, and confidentiality.

Complete required documentation, logs, worksheets, and patient records accurately.

Assist in training and mentoring new hires and students when applicable.

PACS: Resolve image exceptions and ensure accurate, high-quality image transmission.

RIS: Complete study indexing, including start, end, and finalization of exams.

Review and confirm imaging protocols with the Radiologist when necessary.

Demonstrate professionalism through effective communication, responsiveness, teamwork, and adherence to service excellence standards (e.g., AIDET).

Maintain accurate documentation to support clinical and billing functions.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
-
Work may occur in fixed imaging units or mobile settings (IPD/OR/ER).

Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious patients.

Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and/or patients (>10 lbs).
Education / Experience Required
-
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required

Compliance with continuing education requirements
Certifications / Licensure Required
-
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible

Registry must be obtained within 6 months if eligible
