Tuesday – Friday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Days Off: Sunday & Monday

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist operates and prepares specialized magnetic resonance imaging equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. This role requires sound technical judgment to produce high-quality images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MRI imaging procedures in accordance with department protocols

• Position patients and coils to achieve optimal image quality

• Educate patients regarding imaging procedures and provide clear instructions

• Review and verify MRI safety questionnaires prior to scanning

• Ensure accurate labeling and transmission of images to PACS

• Evaluate images for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability

• Complete and document studies promptly in IDX (Radiology Information System)

• Accurately record patient tracking and exam-related data

• Schedule exams in IDX as required

• Maintain MRI suite cleanliness and equipment readiness

• Scan and manage patient-related documentation

• Monitor supplies and accessories to support safe operations

• Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns

• Assist physicians and clinical staff as needed

• Call for inpatients when required

• Perform clerical duties in the absence of support personnel

• Enforce MRI safety standards to prevent ferromagnetic risks

• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols

• Participate in in-services and professional development activities

• Maintain licensure and certifications in good standing

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and MR physics

• Excellent technical and clinical imaging skills

• Ability to exercise independent judgment in a clinical environment

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of MRI experience

Required Certifications & Licensure

• NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology

• ARRT (MRI) Registry

• BCLS Certification

Required Education

Graduate of an AMA/JRCERT-approved Radiologic Technology program
