Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), Every Other Weekend (EOW), Holiday Rotation

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Orthopedics to join the 5 North Orthopedics unit at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. The RN will care for patients pre- and post-operatively, including elective and trauma orthopedic cases, while adhering to hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities
Provide patient-centered care for total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and orthopedic trauma cases.
Participate in rapid response teams as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC.
Apply telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
Perform respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care).
Manage endocrine/metabolic protocols (e.g., IV insulin), GI, genitourinary/renal care, IV therapy, and medication administration.
Demonstrate orthopedic/trauma expertise, including peripheral nerve block catheters and use of safe patient handling equipment (CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, etc.).
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, OT, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, unit secretary).
Provide education and support to patients and families.

Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2 years; no first-time travelers. Previous charge experience preferred.
Specialty: Orthopedic and trauma experience required.
Education/License: Active RN license in hand at time of submission.
Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
Systems: EPIC charting experience required.
