Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU
Facility: Methodist University Hospital
Location: 1265 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38104, United States
Start Date: 03/23/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night, 3x12 (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 36 hours per week; weekends as needed; holidays as required
Charting System: Cerner (preferred)
Float Required: Yes (between like units and campuses within 20 miles as needed)
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU provides high-acuity, evidence-based critical care to patients with complex neurological conditions in a Neuro Critical Care Unit. The nurse is responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and neurological monitoring, and rapid intervention in life-threatening situations while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive critical care using the nursing process in a Neuro ICU setting

Perform advanced neurological assessments and continuous monitoring

Manage ventilated patients and complex airway support
-
Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters and critical lab values
-
Administer and titrate critical care medications per protocol

Recognize and respond rapidly to neurological deterioration
-
Collaborate with intensivists, neurology, neurosurgery, and interdisciplinary teams

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards

Float between like critical care units as required
Required Qualifications
-
Licensure: Active Tennessee RN license or Compact RN license (required at submission)

Experience:
-
Minimum 2 years recent Neuro ICU experience with prior travel experience
-
OR 3 years recent Neuro ICU experience without travel
-
At least 1 completed previous travel assignment required

First-Time Travelers: Not accepted (unless 3 years recent Neuro ICU experience)

Other Requirements:

Must reside at least 100 miles from facility

All RTO must be submitted at time of application

Willingness to work required holidays per facility policy

ADN accepted (BSN not required for this unit)

Patient Population: Adult critical care (neurological focus)

Patient Diagnoses: Acute stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgical cases, seizures, and other complex neurological conditions

Floating: Between like ICU units and nearby campuses as needed
