Description
Title: Surgical Services – Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 5x8-Hour
Job Responsibilities:
-
Function as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in a high-acuity Adult Operating Room
-
Provide scrub support for trauma and specialty surgical procedures
-
Scrub and assist in Trauma, Orthopedic, General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, GYN, GU, Bariatric, and Neurosurgery cases
-
Maintain sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic technique
-
Perform accurate instrument setup, surgical counts, and case turnover
-
Handle specimens appropriately and ensure correct labeling
-
Anticipate surgeon needs and assist throughout operative procedures
-
Follow Universal Protocol and all patient safety standards
-
Adhere to radiation safety, sharps safety, and infection prevention protocols
-
Float to other areas within the campus as needed
-
Work scheduled mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts based on unit needs (no more than 3 consecutive shifts)

Provide care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced acute care/trauma setting
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years of recent OR experience (within the last 4 years) in an acute care facility

Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center strongly preferred
-
Must have strong trauma scrub experience
-
Extensive experience in General Surgery and specialty areas (Ortho, Neuro, Vascular, ENT, GYN, GU, Bariatric)
-
Scrub experience required (First Assist not permitted in NY State)

First-time travelers considered only if from similarly sized/high-acuity facilities
-
Ability to work independently with minimal orientation
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-
Must have no history of license or certification suspension/investigation

Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance and required drug screening

Full SSN required at submission

Must meet 2-year acute care specialty requirement (no exceptions)
Required Certifications:

CST Certification (NBSTSA) – required

BLS (Basic Life Support) – required
