Description
Job Title: Telemetry Technician
Location: Long Island City, NY 11102
Assignment Length: 8 Weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Job Summary
The Telemetry Technician provides advanced ECG monitoring and plays a critical role in patient safety through continuous cardiac rhythm surveillance. This role involves accurate ECG strip analysis, arrhythmia interpretation, and prompt identification and response to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes. Responsibilities include initiating emergency codes when necessary, documenting rhythms during codes, troubleshooting monitoring issues, and responding appropriately to all monitor alarms.
Key Responsibilities

Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) across multiple care settings, ensuring proper electrode placement

Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias accurately

Identify and escalate significant rhythm changes promptly

Initiate codes and record cardiac rhythms during emergency events

Communicate clearly and effectively with charge nurses, physicians, and team members

Enter and verify physician orders within the computer system

Retrieve laboratory results and report critical findings to the charge nurse

Maintain documentation in accordance with organizational policies and standards

Safely manage and operate telemetry and related medical equipment

Troubleshoot monitoring and equipment issues as needed
Required Skills & Experience
-
Proficiency with MS Office Suite

Direct experience working as a Telemetry Technician or Monitor Technician
Required Education
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Certifications & Licensure
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross (valid within one year)

Dysrhythmia Course / Dysrhythmia Certification

Start Date: ASAP (Rapid Response compliance required)

Available Shifts:

3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

5 days per week, weekends may be required

Shift preference must be indicated upon submittal

Dysrhythmia Certification required

EKG Certification preferred

BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross required

Candidate experience must clearly reflect direct Telemetry/Monitor Tech responsibilities
