Description
Title: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics – Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT)
Location: Charleston, WV
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Job Responsibilities:
-
Provide respiratory care to neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
-
Deliver respiratory therapy services in multiple care settings including NICU, pediatric units, critical care, and emergency department
-
Perform airway management procedures including suctioning, tracheostomy care, and airway placement
-
Assist with intubation and extubation procedures as required
-
Manage and monitor ventilators including CPAP, BiPAP, IMV, SIMV, and high-frequency oscillators
-
Monitor and adjust ventilator settings and assist with weaning patients from mechanical ventilation
-
Provide oxygen therapy using various delivery systems including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), trach collars, and bag-mask ventilation
-
Administer respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and aerosolized treatments
-
Set up and manage medication delivery systems such as nebulizers, metered dose inhalers (MDI), and aerosol masks
-
Assist in high-risk deliveries and provide respiratory support to newborns in the NICU
-
Perform capillary and arterial blood gas collection and interpret ABG results
-
Provide respiratory care for patients with conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, RSV, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, ARDS, aspiration, and cystic fibrosis

Support bronchoscopy procedures and care for patients with fresh tracheostomies
-
Perform chest physiotherapy and airway clearance techniques

Collect sputum specimens for laboratory analysis

Monitor patient respiratory status and document treatment responses in the electronic medical record

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
-
Float to different units within scope including PICU, ER, and respiratory care departments as needed

Maintain infection control protocols and ensure patient safety during all respiratory procedures
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year of recent respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting
-
Pediatric and NICU experience required
-
Experience working in PICU and Emergency Department environments
-
Strong knowledge of ventilator management and respiratory therapy protocols
-
Experience providing respiratory care for critical care and pediatric patients
-
Ability to work independently during night shifts with minimal staffing

Experience performing airway management, suctioning, and ventilator troubleshooting
-
Experience with arterial blood gas collection and interpretation preferred
-
Experience in teaching hospital or trauma center settings preferred
-
First-time travelers accepted
Required Certifications & Licensure:

BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA)

RRT or CRT – Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist

PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
-
NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)
-
NALS – Neonatal Advanced Life Support (preferred)
